The Relentless River
The Zambezi, a colossus carved from liquid emerald, rolled its way across the parched earth, its roar a constant pounding in the heart of Elias, a weary fisherman with eyes as deep and ancient as the river itself. Today, the Zambezi was not a source of life, but a relentless adversary. A storm, swift and wrathful, had churned the river into a frenzy, its once placid surface now a battlefield of whitecaps.
Elias gripped the tattered wood of his boat, a vessel that had seen countless sunrises and battles within the river’s capricious mood swings. Desperation gnawed at him. His family, their faces etched with worry lines deeper than the Zambezi’s canyons, awaited his return. Their meager stores dwindled with each passing day.
